A charming, small, comfortable country hotel with large enclosed garden, situated in North Devon between the beautiful golden sandy beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands, and close to Exmoor.
Award winning home cooked food using fresh local produce is served in our restaurant, special diets can be accommodated and there is always a vegetarian choice on the menu. We have a cosy licensed bar for a welcome drink after a busy day enjoying yourself in the lovely North Devon countryside.
The hotel is deaf accessible, the staff sign BSL, and text televisions and vibrating smoke alarms are available if required. The front door is approached by a 1 in 13 purpose built slope with an automatic door that is fully wheelchair accessible. We have two family suites and ten en-suite rooms, four of which are on the ground floor with total wheelchair access and wheel-in showers and grab rails.
Enjoy a traditional Devon cream tea and admire the beautiful view. Early risers may spot the deer that roam the ridge opposite the hotel. It's just a short walk to West Down village, 3 miles to Woolacombe (where the golden sandy beach is voted one of the top ten in the world) and 5 miles to Croyde.
Sunnymeade is centrally based with the South West Coastal Path to the north, west and south - its position making it ideal to explore the beautiful countryside and coastline of North Devon and Exmoor National Park.
With footpaths and cycle ways covering 180 miles of stunning countryside, the Tarka Trail allows the visitor to North Devon to explore the rich diverse landscape that makes up one of the most popular destinations in the country.
Sunnymeade Country Hotel sits in an acre of pretty garden situated between the North Devon beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe, close to Exmoor. There are ten tastefully decorated bedrooms, most en suite and deaf accessible with vibrating smoke alarms and text televisions. All bedrooms have lovely views overlooking the countryside or the garden, and contain colour television and tea and coffee making facilities.
In addition to six first floor bedrooms, there are four en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor, two of which are purpose built for full wheelchair access, with wheelchair accessible shower rooms. The bedrooms have 1 metre wide door openings and plenty of space to manoeuvre a wheelchair, with all the necessary grab rails and support arms. Monkey poles and hoists are available for hire from an Exeter company, if required.
We serve award winning home cooked food, using fresh local produce. Michael, who is a chef by trade, carefully selects the meat from local North Devon suppliers and small producers. Fresh vegetables are delivered daily. The bread is made daily in our own kitchen from organic flour, and organic milk is produced by a small local herd of award winning Holstein cows. Every effort is made to ensure the food we serve is GM free. Special diets (e.g. diabetic and celiac) can be accommodated and a vegetarian choice is always available.
The spacious well appointed lounge makes an ideal meeting place before setting out for the day, or a tranquil arbour to relax in after the evening meal.
The lounge, restaurant and bar are all on the ground floor and are wheelchair friendly.
The well stocked bar provides a friendly atmosphere in which to have a drink and discuss the day's activities.
Polite friendly dogs are welcome at Sunnymeade. There are many walks on public footpaths from the hotel.

Local centre provides all the equipment and is fully supervised (minimum of 12 people).
