Long Meadow Cottage is a fresh, contemporary property, a perfect retreat from which to relax and explore the North Cornwall coast. The cottage is tucked away in the quiet hamlet of Pendoggett in an area of outstanding natural beauty near Port Isaac.
The Cottage provides accommodation on two floors for up to 4 people (+ cot). Neutral colour schemes, slate flooring and natural wood throughout create a calm and stylish interior. The owners, who live in the adjoining house, have carefully designed the cottage interior based on their own holiday experiences.
The ground floor entrance porch leads to a well designed, open plan living space. The fully equipped kitchen has a fridge, dual fuel cooker, dishwasher, microwave and radio/CD player. Dining area with circular oak dining table. Comfortable, compact lounge with TV and DVD.
The first floor has a double bedroom and a twin bedded room, each with a fitted wardrobe. Bathroom with shower over bath, hand basin and WC.
Nearby are a string of beaches, including the rugged Lundy Bay (4 miles), surfing beach of Polzeath (6 miles), the family beach of Daymer Bay (7 miles) and the sailing and water sports resort of Rock (8 miles) which will appeal to visitors looking for excitement and activity as well as those hoping to enjoy a relaxing seaside break.
The pretty fishing village of Port Isaac, location for the filming of the Doc Martin TV series, provides the nearest shops and restaurants. Fishing or scenic boat trips can be arranged from Port Isaac in season and the local catch is on sale at the harbour fishmongers or at the popular fish and chip shop.
Long Meadow is within minutes walk of the village pub and only a short drive from other excellent inns and restaurants including Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant at Padstow and Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen at Newquay.
In addition to excellent coastal and countryside walks, the area offers several golf courses including St Enodoc and Bowood. The nearby town of Wadebridge (6 miles) has a range of shops and facilities including a cinema and sports centre with swimming pool. Bikes can be hired here for the Camel Trail, a former railway line, running along the Camel estuary to Padstow. The trail offers delightful walks and cycle rides with excellent bird watching opportunities. Surfing lessons and coastal kayaking trips can be arranged nearby and a number of local riding stables offer trekking on Bodmin Moor.
As well as stunning beaches and countryside, a variety of fabulous gardens, historic sites, National Trust properties and other attractions make superb day trips – the Eden Project (19 miles), Tintagel Castle (7 miles), Lanhydrock House (13 Miles), The Lost Gardens of Helligan (26 miles), Boscastle (10 miles), Padstow (14 miles by road, 8 miles via passenger ferry from Rock), Newquay (20 miles), Crealy Adventure Park (11 miles) and many more.
Facilities: Duvets, pillows and bed linen provided - guests are asked to bring their own towels. High chair available by prior arrangement. Guests to provide own travel cot. Regret available to non-smokers only. No pets. Ample car parking. Electricity and gas included. Changeover day Saturday - arrival after 4pm/departure by 10am. Short breaks also available.
