Situated in a pretty hamlet Burton Farmhouse is 5 miles from Kingsbridge, 3 miles from the sailing haunt of Salcombe and 1 mile from the picturesque old village of Hope Cove. Burton Farmhouse, originally owned by the Earl of Devonshire, is a 325 acre farm situated in the South Huish valley with a dairy herd and two flocks of pedigree sheep.Burton Farmhouse dates from the 15th Century and has been extensively and lovingly restored. It retains a wealth of original features and character. The house itself has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Families are very welcome and are specially catered for. The farmhouse is a non-smoking zone and pets are permitted but not in the house - a kennel is available.
There is a choice of family, double, twin or single bed accommodation. All rooms have en-suite facilities, are tastefully decorated and centrally heated. For your comfort and convenience we provide colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, shoe cleaning kit and electric blankets. For a small charge we can provide a laundry and ironing service. We have a ground floor room equipped for disabled persons with easy wheelchair access.
We have rooms for special occasions such as honeymoons, anniversaries, etc, including spa bath and corner bath. We can also cater for patries and other spcial events in our Garden Room Resturant.
Our gardens are for everyone's enjoyment, either relaxing or playing games. Alternatively, table tennis, pool or indoor games can be played in the fames room. Children love the play area with swings, slides, etc. On warm summer evenings enjoy an informal drink and barbeque (usually Tuesdays) in the garden with fellow guests.
The beautiful surrounding area is ideal for walking (National Trust) and many nearby sandy coves and beaches are perfect for sailing, windsurfing, bathing, diving or fishing.
Start your day by joining us for a hearty full English or Continental breakfast. Why not try our speciality of porridge with home made clotted cream and honey. Packed lunches always available. Delicious Cream Teas, sandwiches, cakes and snacks served all afternoon. Spoil yourself at the end of the day by enjoying a delicious home cooked four course dinner using fresh, locally grown vegetables, a choice of desserts served with our own clotted cream. Our licenced premises can offer you a world wide selection of over 40 red and white wines as well as local beers, ciders and spirits. Vegetarian and special diets are catered for.
