Once part of the old village hall, Merlewood Cottage is a particularly attractive house that is the home of Alick and Peggie Whittle and, from here, this welcoming couple offer superb bed and breakfast accommodation. Both guest rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished, have private or en-suite bathrooms and one even has a balcony. Alick's home-cooked, hearty breakfast is served in either the family kitchen or on the terrace that overlooks the cottage's delightful garden and the surrounding countryside beyond. There's plenty to do locally, from horse riding to wandering around the picturesque harbour in Dartmouth. And for those who are prepared to venture a little further, the world-renowned Eden Project is under one and a half hours away by car.
