Self Catering in Millbrook, Cornwall, Dolphin Cottage
Often called the ‘hidden kingdom’ the quiet, unspoilt Rame Peninsula is a well kept secret. Easy to reach via the Torpoint car ferry or the Tamar Bridge, you leave the hurly burly of Plymouth to find a conservation area of outstanding nature beauty bounded by the picturesque creeks of the Tamar Estuary, with the pretty seaside villages of Kingsand/Cawsand only a mile or so from Millbrook.
Only a little further Whitsand Bay offers a giant sweep of rocky outcrops and sandy surfing beaches with superb diving off the wreck of the Scylla offshore. Also locally lie two stately homes with country parks, superb country and coastal walks, golf at Portwrinkle, fishing, birdwatching, watersports, sailing and two pedestrian ferries to Plymouth.
The 18th century Dolphin Cottages is the last of three whitewashed cottages only 100 yards from a tidal creek and a few minutes walk from excellent shops, pubs and restaurants.
The cottage has abundant charm; very traditional with beamed ceilings, feature rock fireplace and cheerful log stove. Beside the cottage a short flight of stone steps lead up to a pretty garden with a barbeque patio and a gaily painted summer house. Parking is close by in the lane.
