Luxury holiday Cottage

Filed under: Cornwall, Cottages, Devon, Latest, Rentals, Rentals, Rentals — jamie @ 1:21 pm

I guess the ultimate way to spend your holiday would be in a luxury holiday cottage.

The whole idea of going away is to relax and live in a way you normally cannot. Be it on a river, on a moor, tasting wine for a week, next to a warm pool, whatever your desire is the holiday is where we indulge in selfish extravagance.

The icing on the cake can often be staying in a luxury holiday cottage. A quality cottage will provide you with real comfort and decadence. Often found in accommodation of this ilk are luxury hot tubs and heated pools, with dressing rooms and covered BBQ areas. The quality of the equipment provided should be first class, washing machines and tumble dryers should be included, Broad band internet and a dishwasher should now be standard in any luxury holiday cottage.

The location of the cottage is also an important factor. Luxury cottages should have a bearing, boast a view, nestled in a valley – there should be something that gives you that wow factor and makes it stand out from the rest.

I always consider that if I want a luxury cottage I think would this be my ideal home if I could afford it? If the answer to this is yes then its probably right for your ideal holiday.

Helston Flora day 07

Filed under: Cornwall, Latest, News — jamie @ 12:06 pm

Helston renowned for its flora day on the 8th May is in Panic.

The town is traditionally dressed in spring flowering plants from the local countryside. Lilley of the Valley, Bluebells and rich orange gorse make up the flowering plants with laurel as a backdrop.

Spring 2004 has created a few problems for the organisers of Flora day this year, why? Well many of the spring flowers are already over! The blue bells have flowered and yes, have almost all gone. The town is desperately trying to resolve this problem that has never occurred before.

Towns folk are blaming the very warm spring we are having at the moment, with summer time temperatures. This has caused the flora to become confused and peak to soon. Some locals are blaming global warming on this as there can be no other reason in their eyes.

I will report as to how this issue is solved and on the day its self when the time comes, but until then let me know if you have blue bells flowering near you – HELSTON might need you!

Seaton Tramway

Filed under: Attractions, Devon, For Children, Latest — jamie @ 8:27 pm

Wednesday of last week I took my lads to Seaton in East Devon for a short break. Their favorite attraction in the area was Seaton’s Tramway.

The trams are scaled replicas of original trams and they run on a narrow gauge line running from Colyton to Seaton via Colyford. the total trip lasts for about 20 mins (one way) and you reach about 13 mph at the fastest point. The cars are open topped so you get a chance to really enjoy the whole experience.

We arrived in Colyton and waited for a tram. It only took about 10 mins for one to arrive but the excitement levels had already risen to near bursting point. We navigated our way to the top of the tram and waited to set off. The journey was very comfortable and we could enjoy far reaching views across the Devon country side and into the river axe and its tidal banks.

Egrets, Shell Duck, Waders, Rabbits and Herons were a few of the many species we saw on the journey. We stopped in Colyford to allow other passengers to board the already bursting tram car and off we went once more towards Seaton. My lads loved the level crossing and waving to the stationary vehicles allowing us to pass through.

On arriving at Seaton we spent a few quid buying postcards from the tramway shop then headed into Seaton to explore this seaside town.

All in all agreat day and one that we will be talking about for weeks to come.
